We wanted to say thank you for the amazing support that you have shown us and Sport Allies again this year. Thank you!

Although we have a lot to be grateful for this season, we have also witnessed growing resentment of minority and LGBT rights around the world.  So three of us went to Westminster, the seat of British government, to send a naked Christmas message to world leaders.

Please share this message across all of your social media channels and help us get the message out.

We are the Warwick Rowers.

Cian: And this is Westminster, our country’s main seat of power. It’s London, it’s December and it’s not that warm BUT

Lucas: We are here because we have a message for the new leadership team in the United States and for all leaders around the world.

Tom: As straight allies, we believe that everyone should have the same human rights, regardless of gender or sexual identity.

Cian: And as athletes, we believe that sport can play a vital role in creating an inclusive, healthy and happy world for everyone.

Lucas: This year, as every year, we have shed our clothes as a symbol of breaking down barriers, a demonstration of the contribution that sport can make to health and wellbeing [one or more guys flexes their guns, tenses their abs, etc], and as a reminder that we are all equals in this challenging journey called life.

Tom: So, President Elect Trump and Vice President Elect Pence, we’re sending you our world famous calendar. In it, as here, we stand naked in front of the world to do what we can to make a difference.

Cian: In turn, we call on you, and everyone else in positions of power, to stand before the world and show your commitment to equality, inclusion and human rights.

Lucas: And you don’t even have to get naked. We’ve already done that bit for you.

Thanks guys! It means a lot to see you, in all your guises. I hope you encountered no ‘turbulence’ when you bared almost-all!

I’m one of your many gay followers, as you might expect. I’m also a wheelchair user. At age 64 I can get away with smiling at handsome young guys like you, especially if they’ve just opened a door for me, or something.
Thins were VERY different when I was a boy. Merely being gay put you in legal peril, as any gay behaviour could result in being arrested. The Sexual Offences Act 1967 was the first step towards equality when I was 15.

Keep up the good work. I wonder if it’s a ‘hardship’? Ha Ha!

all the best Phil

REPECAUD - December 14, 2016

Aidan Doyle - December 14, 2016

Well done lads.

You, and all at Warwick Rowers are great ambassadors for rowing, sport and human rights. A great example to us all.

Keep up the good work and try and find a warmer place next time. ‘Always easier to, erm . . . . ,” make a stand” when when it’s warm 🙂

Thanks again for this and many other campaigns and, of course, your great calendars b& other merchandise.

All the best for 2017

Phil Cutler - December 14, 2016

Well done you guys. I’m proud of you.

MICHAEL MARCUM - December 14, 2016

Bravo, Thank you for all you do. Cheers to a wonderful 2017

edward deeley - December 14, 2016

Totally awesome. I am so happy to support your cause. Thank you.

Cliff - December 14, 2016

Very well done! I truly hop that our US leaders as well as the leaders in every country listen to your message. Thanks for all you do to promote equality.

Bill Williams - December 14, 2016

Very thoughtful guys. I am impressed with your message of standing openly and nakedly for what you believe in. I had not thought of the symbolism before now of your stance. Here in the U.S. believe me there is a deep current of bitter fear about what
DT will do to our traditional value system. He won by flying in the face of most of it yet he must govern a people still mostly ruled by it in a nation founded on human rights. So, yes, you rowers for human rights are a small but inspirational force for human equality and happiness in a troubled world. Bravo!!

john - December 14, 2016

Thanks a lot …much appreciated Guys……..

Marcus - December 14, 2016

Thank you for doing this. But you do know that the new leadership team in the US is more pro-LGBT then the previous Obama administration and certainly WAY more LGBT friendly then Hillary Clinton? I am not sure this is something that is well known outside America as the European media outlets have become so abysmal at reporting truthful news about President-elect Trump. But let me assure you that, as an American who voted for the new leadership team – specifically because of Trumps pro-gay stance, that America is ushering in a new era of support for gay rights. Being an advocate myself, and former coxswain for the US Olympic rowing team, this is something that is very dear to me and I find it incumbent upon myself to spread the truth in the hopes of allaying fears of any anti-LGBT sentiment from our new president. Thank you boys, keep up the good work, and Merry Christmas..

    James Hughes - December 14, 2016

This is completely false. It’s the same tactic Trump use taking the truth and standing it on its head.

    Eugene - December 14, 2016

Marcus – I’m not sure what planet you’re living on or which news outlets you consider to be accurate, but I beg to differ. Do you consider “gay conversion therapy” to be pro-LGBT? Is the KKK a pro-LGBT organization. You are entitled to your opinions, but please consider the actual facts before sharing your misinformation with an international audience. Trump is a serial liar, and Pence, as governor of Indiana, personally signed into law some of the most anti-LGBT legislation in history. Shame on you for spreading misinformation!

Dear Rowers – keep working and spreading the word! Your work is appreciated by many informed citizens around the world.

Must be a paid fake newser. This post could be used for compost it is so full of it. Do not believe it Governor Pence had one of the most anti-LGBTQ state administrations for the last 4 years and as a Congressman he had a anti-LGBTQ record. The Donald had lied so much who knows what he believes but if you look at his cabinet appointments they are mostly right-wing anti-LGBTQ people.

It is good to see the rowers “bearing” witness to their support for the LGBTQ commnuity world wide. Thank you guys.

    James River - December 14, 2016

As a VERY anti-Trump American, I must say your opinion in this matter is absolute crap.

    Gabe - December 15, 2016

Marcus, as a gay American, I can say that I am terrified by incoming administration. Trump is no ally, Pence is an actual anti-LGBT enemy, and the cabinet is stocked with hateful people. You’re entitled to your opinion, but not your own facts. To the Rowers, thanks for all you do!

James Hughes - December 14, 2016

Thank you guys for all you’ve done. I hope you all have a great holiday season.

Jose Lambert - December 14, 2016

Your ex-colony needs more of you!

Hans Spuhler - December 14, 2016

Hello warwick rowers. I am very proud about you. I hope many leaders in every country listen to your message. Thanks for all you do to promote equality.

Neil Makin - December 15, 2016

What more can we ask of you! You are all AMAZING!!! Thank you for making our world a better place (even in Ecuador!!!)

MIke Miller - December 15, 2016

Hahahaha they sent Trump and Pence their Calendar. It’s only one of the many reasons I get them yearly.

Harry - December 16, 2016

Sorry, this doesn’t cut it as a convincing message – better go the gym first for a while.

Warwick Rowers Strip Down Outside Westminster To Send Important Message About Equality To Trump – United Kingdom News - December 16, 2016

[…] “As straight allies we believe everyone should have the same human rights, regardless of gender or sexuality,” the nearly-nude rowers say in a video to the President-Elect.  […]

Clift Shealy - December 18, 2016

Thank you so much for the work you do to achieve equality around the world. And for pointing out the challenges we have ahead of us here in the states.

John - December 19, 2016

Pence has been consistently anti-LGBT rights and Trump has been all over the place, but more recently anti. I doubt the staff of either will pass on the calendar or the video, but well done. Keep up the good work.

Andrew - December 21, 2016

i find it very unfortunate we are not celebrating the work the Warwick Rowers are doing, both in and out of their clothes! your foret into the world of discrimination is truly commendable! i apologize for using this platform to vent my anger about the ignorance in the USA, but Marcus lit the match. are you listening to yourself or are you just a dog in the back window of a car? due to The Donald’s proposed cabinet members and their anti-LGBTQ stance, [opposition to the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act; grouping gays, NAMBLA and people who believe in bestiality; and voting against the re-authorization of the “Violence Against Women Act” .] maybe you should read up on the German people in the 30’s. as evidenced by their past voting records, Jeff Sessions [atty gen], Tom Price [secy HHS] and Ben Carson [dept HUD], along with other nominees, are also racist, anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic, and misogynistic; so much for “equality, inclusion and human rights”. mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa for i have grossly abused this opportunity to laud the work of the WRs. thank you again!

John - December 22, 2016

Could I suggest you also send your calendar, via his parliamentary address, to Australian Senator Cory Bernardi, homophobe and ex-rower?
